What am I? 🤔🤔 Please help Twitter-Land. These funny little things were found washed up on the shore of the Wilson Inlet by a resident (by the bucket load!). I’m stumped. Did it come from the Inlet? Did it wash in from the catchment? If you have any ideas, please share!

Sad that most of the unglamorous, but vital, work in Science gets done by volunteers. Yet any info we learn to protect our vulnerable ecosystems = so many life-sustaining benefits. 800 of my PhD samples got done cos of this resilient lady @Vegieshark #seagrasssisters #gratitude

A story of stability and recovery🌱 Be sure to check it out.
Our report on seagrasses in four estuaries in #WA ’s South West is now online. The report focuses on monitoring we conducted to assess #seagrass status in the Leschenault Estuary, Hardy Inlet, Wilson Inlet and Oyster Harbour. Read the report https://t.co/S6cbB9auV2

We used #drones, #satellites, 🛰️ and #field survey to count the number of sea cucumbers on Heron Reef, and see how much they pooped! 💩 https://t.co/VgtvLWUlBE
We assessed sea cucumber bioturbation on a coral reef with drones. Massive sediment turnover per year (equiv. ~5 Eiffel Towers/reef) and important to reef health! @sawsharkman @KEJoyce2 @StephanieDuce @MEG_MQ @MQSciEng @MQBiology

Huge congratulations to @samantha_tol who had her PhD thesis accepted with no changes!! Sam's research looked at the dispersal mechanisms of tropical #seagrasses and she found turtles and dugong are important in dispersing seagrasses, including via seeds in their poo! 🌱🐢💩🌱

Hot off the press: an important study reveals how #dugongs move in #coralreef #lagoons to inform #Management! Did you know that dugongs could use the oceanic waters/#barrierreef to commute between bays? @MurdochUni, #HBI @jcu , @UMREntropie, @ClaireGarrigue
A new #dugong (Dugong dugon) tracking study conducted in New Caledonia provides important new insights into the species’ use of coral reef lagoon environments. Read more @ESR_IR

This weekend was our 26th consecutive year of @portsnorth #seagrass monitoring in Karumba. The seagrass here was impacted by flooding, but we are seeing signs of recovery with seagrasses growing from seeds (left📷) and dugongs feeding in the meadow (feeding trails in right📷).

Just another day's sampling in the Kimberley... Awesome working with Balanggarra to explore their sea country and crocs are a natural part of this healthy environment. It's also why we don't go for a quick dip from the back of the patrol vessel... 😀🐊🐊
