1/ At the @SeattleTimesCo, it’s #timeforchange. Our bargaining committee meets with management today to begin negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. And it’s past time for fair pay and better conditions. Here’s what we’re fighting for:

We did it!!! Yesterday the unit voted unanimously to ratify a new contract that will immediately secure hardworking journalists at @CascadePBSNews an average raise of 6.76% and an average 18.3% wage increase over the course of the four-year contract.

We did it! A majority of @adndotcom newsroom staff voted to unionize. The @nlrbgov counted our ballots today via Zoom after receiving a few mail-in ballots. This makes the ADN the only unionized newsroom in Alaska. Thank you for your support! #ADNunited

We asked Carpenter for the legal bare minimum — to bargain with us before imposing layoffs — and it took a 2-day strike to get there. But we’re back to work today doing what we love, and we’ll begin negotiations with the company on Friday. Let’s save some newsroom jobs!

For decades, workers at @TheStranger, @portlandmercury, @EverOutSeattle, @EverOutPortland and @BoldTypeTickets have fostered an alternative voice in Pacific Northwest media. Today, we have asked the upper management at Index Media to voluntarily recognize our union.
