While using red light to illuminate video footage at night may be less intrusive than using white light, it has its drawbacks. I've been using Premier Pro to improve the clarity of my videos in order to better identify the fish that like to hang around them!

It's @SeaSteffers running the page again this week! I've been in the field the last week deploying my red light-illuminated camera mounts to characterise nocturnal fish communities around oyster reefs in Botany Bay. Hoping for some great footage that I can share soon!

You may be curious about who's been driving the MEG twitter this week. Well, it was @SeaSteffers, and I was very excited to give my talk on seascape-scale tidal fish migration in NSW estuaries yesterday! The evening saw us at the Gala Night celebrating the end of an awesome week.

Lots of MQ talks today 🎉 great talk today @SeaSteffers on fish migration on oyster reefs! If you want to ask her more questions about her research she’s rocking the fish earrings! 🐠 #amsa2023 @mqnatsci

Another day of fascinating talks (including those from our fellow Macquarie Uni students and academics), followed by student night trivia (we'll win next year!). Congrats to @_natashagarner who gave her tasty talk about habitat "cookies" and sea cucumbers as well! #AMSA2023

40 underwater camera deployments per day across 2 tides, for 3 days. A big milestone for my PhD: getting the first days of sampling done for my first experiment! Couldn't have done it without my amazing crew, making my first day as skipper a (relatively) easy job!

I've gotten to know the rocky shores of Balls Head quite well, but I never get sick of doing field work here. I'm very thankful to still be small part of the huge @LivingSeawalls project, and for all the fish and people I've been able to work with!

In the lead up to #SharkWeek it's important to remember that about 75% of the information provided is false and scientists will spend most of the week refuting false facts that usually relate to fearmongering about sharks attacking people or Megalodon not being extinct

Had the amazing opportunity to speak at the NSW Coastal Conference about fish communities and @LivingSeawalls this past week. Such a great group of attendees and speakers to share my first in-person conference experience with!

Such a great team the neurobiology lab and benthic ecology lab make! Looking forward to the results to come from these experiments!
The rain gave us some much needed respite from the heat during the last two days, a great ending to the last day of fieldwork this week. Big, big thank you to my team and everyone else who helped out ✨ @MelanieJBishop @DrBrendanLanham @SeaSteffers @kristine_marine @loutosetto

Our team is investigating the long term effects of flower pots installed at Blackwattle Bay by @morris_becki between 2013-2016. Nice day for #fieldwork! @SydneyMarine @unswcmsi @MQBiology

So great to be back in the field after lockdown! I always value these chances to upskill and help out with some great eco-engineering projects!
Our PhD researchers got a species ID master class from @marialvozzo at McMahons Point today! #urbanecology #WomenInSTEM
