I could keep going but the 🧵 will run out… If you’ve ever considered a career in mental health / therapy. Talk to someone in the field (also always very happy to), I love what I do & forever grateful to those I’ve had the fortune to learn from.

4. Therapy & being a therapist is messy, just like life. There’s no perfect method (this is taking some getting used to) 5. I love learning. Saying I don’t know is a real skill 6. Curiosity makes for SO many interesting conversations. Education is a 2 way street

2. Collaboration is key, not just token or surface, but true meaningful collaboration makes for long lasting change 3. Being vulnerable is a skill (I’m learning, always), it’s giving me lots of opportunities to learn from some wonderful people

I always welcome & champion meaningful initiatives which support staff & meet people where they’re at. It’s a non-negotiable for me that everyone is given the time, space & capacity to care for themselves so we provide safer, compassionate & better care for all.
NEW 🚨 | NHS England Sickness and Absence Rates show an increase in nursing staff sickness caused by anxiety, stress, depression & other psychiatric illnesses, making up 26.1% of all absence in June 2023. Failure to invest in the NHS forces staff to become patients themselves.

For 2 years I have supported MH apprenticeship student nurses. Ive seen up close moral injury and work based trauma. Don’t tell my students they need more resilience whilst ignoring systemic issues beyond their control
