Sad to let you all know that I will be leaving @BritishQuakers at the end of the month, for newer opportunities. I've loved my time with Quakers, and got to work on so much important stuff, but all good things must come to an end and the time is right for me to move on.

We're sad to see the abuse directed at some #WhitePoppy wearers on Twitter, much of it accompanied by sexist, homophobic and far-right attitudes. We're glad that thousands of people support #WhitePoppies and that many who disagree will choose constructive discussion over abuse.

I congratulate the Scottish Parliament for adopting the law to give children equal protection from assault. There is no place for violence in a child's life. This law is a good step towards the full realisation of children’s rights in the country. #SPEqualProtection @ScotParl

I'm still feeling really over-the-moon about yesterdays result in parliament on #EqualProtection I keep thinking about the impact this has for children's rights and their understanding of what is and is not acceptable behaviour.

Glad to hear that @MareeToddMSP is going to make sure Scotland follows international best practice on children's rights. Quakers in Scotland, of course hopes this includes the part of the UNCRC which addresses the recruitment of children into the armed forces #SPEqualProtection

.@JohnFinnieHI lets us know about resources to help support parents with alternative discipline. As a former child, and current parent I welcome having such support for families. Only the other day I got parenting advice from a rad group of Quaker women. #SPEqualProtection

It's a shame the debate focuses solely on the rights of parents, when the law is about the rights of children and young people. Rights do sometimes rub up against each other, but generally you look to privilege the party whom is most vulnerable i.e. kids. #SPEqualProtection
