Social psychologist always chasing too many goals. There’s room for everyone on the nice list.

I took this job for many reasons, including to increase post-bacc and post-doc training opportunities for rising stars in Social Psych. So please share with the people you know who fit that description. 4/4

I have a surprising professional update: I've moved to a new position! As of 8/8, I am a Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Clinical Translational Science at the TSET Health Promotion Research Center (OUHSC/Stephenson Cancer Center) in Tulsa, OK. And I'm hiring! 1/n

I haven't shared here yet but I will be recruiting a new PhD student next year. With funding from NIH, we're doing some pretty cool dyadic process work in smoking and I'm keeping up with questions about motivation more broadly. I hope you'll send students my way.

Our training area is interdisciplinary, making this a potentially ideal place where someone has strong research interests in both social/cognitive and neuroscience. As far as academic jobs go, I think this one is pretty sweet. We hope to see your applications!

We are hiring at UGA! If you are a good fit, please consider applying! I'd love to see a social neuroscientist in this role. Note: While I am not on the search committee, I am the chair of the training program where this hire will be housed.

I was this many years old when I realized I don’t hate writing. I actually love it. I just hate how difficult it is to make sense. Big thoughts today.

And if you’re interested in putting together or joining symposium, don’t be shy about reaching out to people in the southeast. Most of us are willing to join together for a session but need a prompt.
Are you a personality or social psychologist based in the southeastern United States? Don't forget to submit for #SSSP2023 before September 13. Learn more about the SSSP Southeast Conference below and join us on November 4 in Charlotte, NC! 🔗: https://t.co/t2XpWsBdws

I am planning on recruiting a grad student for Fall 2023. I'd love to see you/your students at this pre-application event. If you're at a teaching-oriented school, please share this info, especially to students who might not have access to the hidden curriculum of academia.
Please share! Psyc undergrads, want to learn about UGA's Behavioral & Brain Sciences PhD program & meet faculty/grad students? Faculty in multiple areas (social, dev, neuro) are recruiting new students. Virtual event 10/10 @ 7:00 pm ET. Register here https://t.co/uCPd8wSKvD

This semester I have instituted a strict selfish Monday protocol--I only do the work I want or need to do on Mondays. No meetings unless I instigate and WFH. It has been so freeing and today while I sit at inbox zero and am starting Tuesday's to do list, I am so thankful.

I will never get over how rewarding it is to see students thrive. Sierra, you are the mentor now! Can we convince you to come work at UGA? Kidding (not kidding)…
#BlackinPsychJourney 🧵After freshman year, I knew bio/pre-med wasn't it. 😅 I'd enjoyed my intro psych class, so I changed my major to it! Neither clinical nor biopsyc electives drew me in, but taking social psych & stats made me realize my love for both, so I went with it.

Perceptions that learning is effortful and frustrating (called perceived cost) can make students disengage. What can we do? In a new paper, we tested an intervention to address perceived cost in college biology, finding mixed effects. https://t.co/fidfMjyUif

#AcademicTwitter I have a question! @AshmitaReads & I have been working together on a presentation for @SPSPnews. She is coming from Canada & is not yet a Canadian citizen. Delays for visas look like ~400 days out of Toronto. Anyone have insights to #getAshmitatoSPSP ?

Please share with your students. Program designed for all but we are really hoping to reach students at schools that might not have access to research resources or as much training in preparing for graduate school.
Please share! The UGA Psychology Department is now accepting applications (through 5/1/22) for the 2nd Annual virtual Summer Undergraduate Research Education Program (SUREP). https://t.co/T1iR9fgpMo

Have you ever woken up and been a little excited that it's a teaching day, only to remember you haven't prepped your lecture yet? Cause I've definitely never done that. Not today, not ever.
