#MyScienceMay starts today! I'm Helen, a part-time medical scientist @WestSydHealth We research how white blood cells cause heart attack and poor wound healing. Non-work time is filled with watching my three kids, drinking tea, baking, and eating chocolate.

Enjoyed visiting the @NSWHSBiobank today! Really cool to see the people and robots at work in this purpose-built facility. Our FH biobank has just begun, but we're hoping to have 500 samples upon completion.

Had a very good time at at @sydFMH_EMCR sessions. Some lovely chats in the breaks (including @DrMelodyDing @cancer_K2A and Dr Habib Francis)! I learned about noisy knees, and bad sleep in athletes. Missing out on Day 2 but will be at Day 3 (Westmead) for more!

Ever seen a badly dubbed movie? @LingZhangCan is showing us how using an avatar to deliver health information is great, but it's important when having a different language to ensure the mouth movements match the words! @sydFMH_EMCR

Dr Tian Wang is telling us the cardiovascular benefits of a healthy plant-based diet. I am feeling sad that potatoes, as starchy vegetables, don't count as positives for this classification. Probably less so when covered in cheese, butter, and/or sour cream @sydFMH_EMCR.

Next up, @jessicajorchard talking about screening ECGs in athletes to look for risk of sudden cardiac death. I was surprised to see how many sudden deaths occur during sleep and rest rather than during exercise @sydFMH_EMCR

No photos, but loved hearing from @Dr_NChapman about the steps taken to try and create new ways of informing and empowering people with high blood pressure @sydFMH_EMCR. The power and value of consumer engagement.

Hearing from @DrMelodyDing who is matching her profile pic at the @sydFMH_EMCR Symposium. She's letting us know academia is tough even for superstars like her and reminding us to take time out to look after ourselves.

Yesterday my train was 20 min late. Today I caught a slightly earlier train to try and have time for a little pre-conference walk. Today the train was 30 min late. So I am going to be even later than yesterday. Sigh.
