Now is the time to really explore what worked to deepen understanding, aid in sense making, or facilitate communication and collaboration…and what was a just a Band-Aid that needs to be ripped off and thrown away! Just because it “worked” doesn’t mean it has to stay!.
"Your ‘tech tool belt’ has probably grown this past year to include new apps & websites, so a shift back to in-person instruction must include reflection about which tools to keep and which ones to toss aside," writes @ASCD author @ClassTechTips.

Great idea!!!.
I’ve ditched the staff handbook and created a Hub for this year! Each cell is hyperlinked to the specified document. It’s still a work in progress🤗 #LeadLAP #BoldSchool #gcessuperheroes

I love the idea of creating a language toolkit to use when you hear a “racialized statement”! #NYSEDP20.

The best PD I’ve been in or given has put teachers as students before they reflect as teachers, then time to practice and reflect some more! Never and one-and-done. so true.
In the same way teachers don't expect students to master sophisticated practices or develop deep understandings after a single lesson, effective professional development takes time. Leveraging What We Know for Better PD:

I’ve seen this is action and it really does work. It’s amazing that the vocab becomes a part of their everyday discussions around the phenomenon.
Teachers should elicit, value, and leverage students’ ways of communicating when observing and making sense of phenomena, rather than front-loading scientific vocabulary. #NGSSChat #NGSS
