Somehow I posted last year's finalists. This is the correct link: https://t.co/0artEwf7ON And amazingly, Cindy is only a JUNIOR this year.

It has been such a pleasure working with her, and I just hope she remembers me someday when she is a famous scientist.

This is the oldest and arguably the most prestigious science competition in the country for high school students. Cindy spent parts of two summers in my lab, and she can patch neurons, run analyses, make figures and presentations at the level of a PhD student.

but instead present 💡ideas💡 about how neurons might process information. For me, this focus underscores that what we need in #neuroscience are not larger neural networks or larger-scale recordings, but new ideas and ways of thinking about the brain.

A substantial part of my PhD work with @teulerlab at @uni_tue , with @CellTypist @MatthiasBethge @alxecker @kfrankelab @SchwartzLabNU, is now out as a preprint! We found "A chromatic feature detector in the retina that signals visual context changes" https://t.co/EOhhWXU9Db

So thrilled that this is finally in print! https://t.co/5fZAiMbfR6 Please visit https://t.co/jla2fU16BT and let's keep interacting as a community and make the retina the premier vertebrate circuit for cross-modal neuronal classification.

@teulerlab The talks, most of which were delivered by rising starts in the field, were wonderful, and the trainees' posters may have been even better. The future of visual neuroscience is bright.

The FASEB retinal neurobiology and visual processing meeting was very special. Rachel Wong and Jon Demb did an outstanding job organizing. And watching Jeff Diamond and @teulerlab receive the Boycott Prize for their careers of fantastic science and mentorship was poignant.

@SophiaWienbar And also congratulations to the postdoctoral winners, Ulisse Bocchero, and Adam Mani, who was one of the first postdocs in my lab and forever part of my academic family.

Congratulations to @SophiaWienbar from my lab and our neighbor Andrew Jo on their “best poster” wins at the FASEB meeting. I could not be more proud! This is my favorite meeting and your work was judged by our respected peers.

One option is for me (personally) to teach you patch electrophysiology in the retina. Another is to help build and manage our MATLAB + python + SQL database and analysis infrastructure. Link to the job listing: https://t.co/RqnCJHhe3X DM's open. 3/3

While part of the job would involve working with the mouse colony and making solutions, the other part is really a "choose-your-own-adventure" depending on your interests and expertise. 2/3

I am looking for a technician (or 2) to join my lab at Northwestern in Chicago - ideally for 2 years. This could be a great bridge to grad. school. We are a diverse, supportive, friendly team, and the training environment is very strong. 1/3
