It has to be said… When you ONLY focus on strengths, you miss real problems that need addressing. When you ONLY focus on deficits, you miss real assets that could help solve those problems. Both extremes fail students.

Social emotional skills shouldn’t be ignored. Skills like managing frustration, staying focused, and getting along with others help kids do better in school and in life. Supporting their development, in partnership with parents, doesn’t replace family values. It reinforces them.
