John Vaillant, author of “Fire Weather,” explains how forest fires have become more combustible, more damaging, and deadlier. But humans “still have outdated notions of it,” says @JohnVaillant. “Climate’s moving beyond us right now.” @hari

Absolutely loved this. @WednesdayErskin is a writer who is just really really really good at writing. Sounds like a low bar, but it’s actually a rare treat and a fucking relief. Thanks again for sending @ansa_khan @SceptreBooks @agent_luck 🙏❤️

Blob by @litmagreject. A woman coping badly with a breakup finds a weird blob in an alleyway and coaxes it into human form. A funny and frustrating story about growing up and learning to live in the world. Very enjoyable and one to watch in Feb '25!

I am loving @WednesdayErskin ’s The Benefactors – magically, it is both generous and urgent, the writing taut as you could wish but fizzing over everywhere – a river of voices, tragic, comic, subversive – absolutely captivating Thank you Wendy, @ansa_khan & @SceptreBooks

My new book, The Forbidden Garden of Leningrad, is out today. It tells the story of the botanists who worked at the world's first seed bank during the 900-day siege––and how they were faced with a terrible decision: eat the seeds to survive, or protect the collection for science.

Great question, and oh, the brain behind this book! I’m in awe. Swift articulate explorations probing the impact of biography’s stain on art & some of the ideologies that colour it further. Fascinating. A fabulous debate-starter! #BookRecommendations #Nonfiction @SceptreBooks
