What a treat to have a poem of mine featured on former Alabama poet laureate Jennifer Horne's Mid-Week Poetry Break today! I read this poem two weeks ago at an Advent reading in Vero Beach. It seemed appropriate to the set:) First in SWWIM. https://t.co/9Scfcw6GU7 via @YouTube

Check out the newest issue of UCity Review, a remarkable online journal now celebrating its 16th year! Pleased to have 9 poems (NINE!) in this issue, & to share space with such talented company. Also - thanks, Sam!
"En plein air, you use blue as acute accent, for your mother’s distant trees, to inflect sky, or deepen nearby grass— .... Between brush strokes, you weigh how memory filters truth." - from Sarah Carey's poetry in the latest @UCityReview. @SayCarey1

Love how UCity Review typically runs 8-10 poems by each poet. I was thrilled to be their "Noteworthy" poet a few years ago; that visibility meant so much to me. This issue has several from my forthcoming collection, Bloodstream, + some wonderful new-to-me poets. Can't wait!

"Voigt's characters proceed to offer us a record of their time and environment, and if we listen carefully, we can hear echoes of present-day fears, angst and despair." Read @SayCarey1's review of Kyrie by Ellen Bryant Voigt (@wwnorton) at LAR online! https://t.co/Oe75cAhUj9

I won't lie. Prepping a book for publication is stressful! But it's happening, y'all. Bloodstream, my second full-length collection of poems, is in the final stages of proofing. I am so excited! More info about publication ETA & a planned book launch when I'm able to share!

It's been a minute since I updated my blog. New post up! Hope you enjoy. Do you write using notebooks? Is it useful?

I never thought I'd say it. A notebook can be a writer's best friend. They can be beautiful, and — had you asked me just over a month ago — I would have said, also completely useless. I was wrong.

Whenever I'm on the road, listening to a Gator game & need the real-time score, I just text my buddy & former neighbor, @GrahamHall & he always texts back, even mid-game! Got to meet his lovely new bride, Taylor today. Wishing them both the very best!
