I agree - although I would talk about changing rather than getting better. I envy my new writer self the ease with which he began new work. It was brilliant for open mics, always having something new to share. I am better than he was at working a poem until it's publishable.
The most difficult thing about teaching writing, I think, is the utter inability to convey to students that as you get better at it, it gets harder, not easier--that composition *slows*, instead of speeding up. Close to the exact opposite of acquiring athletic or physical prowess.

Opinion or misinformation?. How many net millions of votes are we supposed to believe labour lost through tactical voting?. Wasn't it the main challenger in more seats than anyone else?. Didn't it campaign on the basis that you had to vote labour to beat the Tories?.
It seems to me that the portrayal of the Labour win as shallow because of the vote share is misleading. This was a ‘get the tories out’ election. For different people that generally meant voting Labour, Lib Dem, Green or Reform. But in doing so they all knew they’d get a Labour.
