Our preprint reviewing the efficacy of #oxoline, an old Soviet drug developed for influenza chemoprophylaxis, is now up! The original literature has been lost until now, but it appears to reduce infection by half.

I was cleaning up my spam folder and found that I've been invited to a conference by a society I never heard of based on my "outstanding contribution", which was actually an erratum to a publication.

Because ARC won’t tell us what is happening with #DiscoveryProjects #DP22, I found it interesting to hunt for clues in their budget report, where they report in March being on target with an 8 month turnaround. Something must have hit them after that… preprints?

Amazing presentation and congratulations on winning the presentation prize!
I am bummed I won't be joining @AustEvolSoc in person this year 😑... but I am excited to give my talk virtually at 1345 AEST in the 'Selection' stream 🧬! Come learn about ontogenetic patterns in heritability and play a little game of spot the lizard! 🦎👀 #AES2021 #AUSEVO2021

via @NYTimes. Can someone explain to me how this can legitimately be a thing? I’m seriously concerned that the whole project is some kind of scientific fraud perpetrated on the public who feel guilty about ongoing environmental destruction.

I had no idea until now, but masking and social distancing are community health practices advocated in the Bible. After two months in lockdown I’m definitely doing the whole unkempt hair thing.

Applied for Australian citizenship! This got me wondering. Did Australia pay British taxes like the American colonies? If so, why no independence movement? If not, why not? Can’t find an answer on the internet, my queries mostly return tax advice for expats.

Do you ever wake up to an editorial decision email in your inbox, read the letter thinking "I don't remember submitting this work?!", just to realize it was an editorial decision on something you reviewed a long time ago?

Teaching Issues and Experiments in Ecology is an amazing resource that has so many creative ideas for labs and class exercises. I wish I knew about it three years ago when I first started teaching ecology
