In open source debates, it's important to react to ideas, not people. There are many people who will bring many ideas to the table. Let's hear them all out.

Ignoring the technical limitations of FAIR, or eschewing discussions around the ways it could be abused, doesn't move the needle forward. There are opportunities to improve FAIR, though not every potential problem has a technical solution. I believe that FAIR presents the best.

Much has been made of me starting @AspirePressOrg in October of last year, but I could not have done the work without the dedication of countless contributors, including Alex Sirota, Andy Fragen, Austin Meakin, Chuck Adams, Matt Leach, Namith Jawahar, Brent Toderash, and Veerle.

I’m proud of my work on @AspirePressOrg and @fair_pm and though I wish I could have contributed more to both I’m glad they’re in the hands of the community.

I tried some “vibe coding” with a presentation I was working on. I asked Copilot to write the code for me. Here’s how it went. The code quality was acceptable and the code itself was mostly correct. I had to make several adjustments to the code to get it to work, but it did.

I’ve been quiet on here and it’s because I’ve been treating my mental health. I’ve started a GoFundMe to cover some medical expenses. Please share, support, or donate—every small action counts.

The WordPress community doesn't need to agree on a single direction for community to take the reigns. We need to agree on a basic model for moving forward, but projects serving different needs is a good thing. Not every user is the same, and we shouldn't act like they are.

If the conference space for WordPress is going to be severely restricted, we need alternatives. Real calls for papers, real sponsorships, real participation from the community.

It seems clear from updates to the WordPress developer resources that MM's biggest fear is that someone will take away the .org repository from him. Good. Keep pushing, everyone.

I just donated to the @thewpcc at a $100 a year level. Their work is invaluable, and I highly recommend you do the same. Thank you to those working on a better future for all of WP.

I’ll be renewing my efforts in 2025, focusing on what I can do for the community, for the small and medium business owners who rely on Wordpress, and even some of the enterprise customers out there.

We don’t need to fully reinvent the wheel, but we do need to customize it for WordPress. But we also have all the mechanisms we need in core to handle plugin and theme download, installation and configuration. What we need is the infrastructure, not the concepts.

I have been giving a lot of thought not just to community initiatives but what the ecosystem needs. My conclusion is that the ecosystem requires a broad spectrum solution that integrates with other solutions to allow cohesive package mgmt, similar to package managers today.

Wordpress needs more than just a replacement for .org. It needs the ability to overhaul the entire distribution model. The APIs for .org were invented years ago. There’s no validation that what you asked for is what you got. And it’s coded into #WordPress. We need alternatives.
