Visited RINL on 19th Sept 2025. As the plant has not gone required maintenance for years, problems in RMHP, logistics and other units are natural. Team RINL, including the youngsters and management, is trying its best to take RINL to a sustainable and profitable path forward.

Visited Donimalai and Kumaraswami mines of NMDC in Karnataka. With production of about 15 Million Tonne iron ore per annum, this is the 2nd biggest iron ore mine cluster of NMDC after Bacheli-Kirandul in Chattisgarh.

Do you know-6: There are 3 main routes of steel making; Blast Furnace -Basic Oxygen Furnace (BF-BOF), Direct Reduced Iron- Electric ArC Furnace (DRI-EAF) & Induction Furnace. While BF-BOF is mostly used by ISPs, induction furnace route is used by SSIs. @SteelMinIndia

Do you know-5: The biggest raw material cost component for making steel is not iron ore, but coking coal (or coke). At present Indian prices, one ton of steel will cost about Rs. 14-16000 (0.8- 0.9 MT), while iron ore will cost about Rs. 11-12000 (1.6-1.7 MT).

Do you know-1 : India became the 2nd biggest steel producer in the world in 2018 overtaking Japan. Today India has 200 Million Tonne steel capacity. By 2030 this is expected to be about 300 MT. @SteelMinIndia

*NSL* marked a milestone on 22.06.2025 with record-setting achievements across operations, including Hot Metal production of 11,101T (117% capacity). BF coke yield reached 79%, TRT generation touched 16.4MW, and oxygen supply was enhanced to 34,000 Nm³/hr. #NSL #Steel #Milestone
