Strike team 6849C had an extremely busy night. The crews are working extremely hard as the fire experienced explosive growth for yet another day. There will be SMG crew specific updates here shortly but these pictures tell a striking tale of what the crews are battling.

This morning, OES 6308 was deployed to the River fire in Mariposa County, as a part of OES strike team 6849C. The fire is currently 4,000 acres and 5% contained. Firefighters on the fire are facing extreme fire behavior due to low fuel moisture. #servicebeyondexpectations

The cause of the fire was a spark thrownfrom power equipment. During high fire events do not use power after 10 AM. #onelessspark.

THREAD: Our friends over at @NWSSanDiego perfectly covered what this excessive heat warning means for the county. When the heat rises so does the anger of large fires.Have fun and enjoy your weekend, but do so safely. #servicebeyondexpectations.

So we know it's gonna get hot, but let's touch on a couple of nuances: . 1. Thinking the mountains will be the perfect spot to cool off? Think again. Mountain zones will see some of the highest departures from normal of any geographic area, with highs into the mid 90's. (1/4) 🌡️
