The final open-access version of our paper is out! Here we found diverse diets among honey bee hives even when in close proximity. Non-almond pollen was a complementary resource throughout the season! https://t.co/pPjAeIIA1l @ManuSaunders @SamnegardUlrika @rominatwi

Did you know that also small birds use torpor to save energy in winter? if not (also if you did!) check out our new paper. Again feeling extremely lucky to have awesome collaborators! @BeckmannChrista @FrontiersIn #Torpor #YellowRobins #PasserineResearch https://t.co/FPMIMmvzvl

Thanks to all who helped me with #pollinator #plantingguides, I now got great coverage for US, UK and Australia😀. If somebody have further suggestions from Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe (except UK and Ireland) I would highly appreciate it. Litt could be in any language

Pollinator researchers - can you help me to find examples of planting guides for pollinators? Could be books, homepages etc., country wide or regional. It would be lovely with examples from several countries and continents. Thanks🙂

Surprising results- cort in old feathers changes in response to plasma hormonal manipulation: Experimental corticosterone manipulation increases mature feather corticosterone content: implications for inferring avian stress history from feather analyses
biorxiv.org
Feathers incorporate plasma corticosterone (CORT) during their development and, because feathers lack blood supply at maturity, the CORT content of feathers (CORTf) is presumed to represent an...

Dipterans have many important functions in agroecosystems; however, they are too often overlooked. We found predatory #dipterans, potentially important for pest control, to be very common in Swedish apple orchards. Read more in our latest publication

Nice paper by @emeijaard and colleagues on the massive biodiversity impact of Coconut oil compared to others (including palm oil). I hadn't realised that coconut plantations cover 12.6 million hectares! Nearly as much as palm oil (18.9). https://t.co/cQxGJdR3VK ht @wheeler_char

I’m happy to announce that my paper that covers my concern over pollinators in SW Ethiopia, is now published in #TheScientificNaturalist :). I hope this paper will spur further research on #pollinators and their services in under-studied areas of Africa.

#Beetwitter: How do you separate #pollen grains from bee #corbicula loads? I have samples in ethanol I need to suspend in homogeneous solution but pollen stays clumped even after crush/vortex/mix in H2O (in different combos). Most papers don’t clarify methods.
