Morning all. Busy Friday ahead but must make time to get last 3 bare root roses planted after a good soak. Three Siluetta ramblers, Crimson, deep scarlet red, Romantic, fluffy pink, & Sunny, gorgeous yellow. Wonderfully fragrant & also produce hips. Have a super day π

Hereβs to the wonderful Bergenia (elephantβs ears), easy to grow & thrives in shade or full sun. Mine produce blooms several times a year, often when thereβs little else blooming. Their gorgeous glossy leaves are not only nice to look at but provide shelter for moths, ladybirds

Morning all. Very wet weather so no sign of Melvyn (he must be snuggled up somewhere). Delighted to spot the first of the cherry blossom, mostly budded but there are a few blooms. A sign of the joy to come. Have a super day everyone π

In all the owl excitement I missed a notification of another visit. If itβs the same bird visiting itβs either indecisive or fussy. Food. & nesting material nearby. Would anyone recommend putting some inside the box?

Morning all. Managed to set the trail cam up in a tree last night (thankfully, there's no footage of that!), ready to try & capture some footage of Melvyn, the tawny owl that's visiting. Judging by the wingspan, guessing it's male... #NaturePhotography #wildlifephotography

Can anyone help? Iβm trying to work out the gender of the tawny owl. I know they have different calls but so far not heard any vocals. Females have a larger wingspan & are larger, but Iβve nothing to compare with. Any ideas? #Birdsofprey @WildlifeTrusts @Countryfile

Loosely related to the love theme & bizarrely featuring my arch nemesis Tufty, hereβs my favourite garden video. The Eric Morecambe style pigeon walk through gets me every time ππ±#GardensHour

One of my favourite garden reds ( although their plumage is actually orange) the robins. Iβm lucky to have several pairs nesting throughout the gardens. This is Betty. #GardensHour

I have shared this on my feed but just wanted to reshare here. My big news was a valentine visit from an owl on my birthday. Best present ever! #GardensHour

Carrying on with tonight's theme of red & love, it would be remiss of me not to share a pic of Ted, my red fox lab companion & garden supervisor. #GardensHour

Morning all. After a bright start, the weather has taken a turn & it looks ominously grey& dark. I know itβs not unusual for February but it would be nice to dry out a bit. Thinking about getting Ted some wellies π have a super start to the week everyone π

Morning all. Yesterdayβs excitement continues, the little owl is back in the same spot today. Eight years ago I decided to restore the garden ecosystem & create an environment where wildlife could thrive. This is the such a thrill.
