We added displacement to our terrain system this week. Using a height texture terrain materials can displace the geometry and height blend between materials. 🗻✨

It's depressing that software engineering mostly wastes the hardware advantages to make programming "easier" and "cheaper" = sloppy code. Every 2 decades we get 1000x faster hardware (Moore). I'd like to see real improvements, like 1000x more players MP: https://t.co/GZUxbfE9wO

Can do more than just surface since lighting is all unified and no longer tied to geometry Works beautifully for volumetrics, looks like a proper cloud when it absorbs ambient lighting
Trying it further on a more complex map, feels as good as 2D lightmapping if not better at a fraction of the time for processing and memory budget
