As of March, SamTrans is carrying 72% of pre-pandemic ridership. That's the highest in the Bay Area and 11% better than the national bus average.

With face covering requirements, Bay Area operators will manage capacity so physical distancing is achievable.
Operators also will provide hand sanitizer when possible in their system and promote a "Quiet Ride" campaign to ask riders to limit speaking when riding transit.

As a thank you SamTrans will offer free fares on all routes from August 7 until August 20. All passengers can board for free as the agency transitions to the new schedules. Paratransit will also be free for riders.

Yesterday, our operator Chris Tarusan noticed a lost child wandering Daly City. He pulled his bus over and contacted radio control & the police to locate the child’s home.
We’re grateful to have kind-hearted operators and appreciate his willingness to help the public. 💙
