Today we recall the start of the 1831/32 Emancipation War led by now Rt. Excellent Samuel Sharpe. A monument to those who fought and died with him is in Sam Sharpe Sq., MoBay, behind the Civic Centre. Go visit when you can.

There's no #migrantcrisis, but a crisis of hospitality. The heinous and dehumanising rhetoric of those leading us is dangerous. Gordon Allport called it antilocution, the first step leading to extermination. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will crush your soul.

"The eyeroll that #BlackHistoryMonth can often induce is why it is essential to understand why it came into being in the first place" My piece for @theipaper on why the month started and unfortunately remains necessary

2022 Sam Sharpe Lecture by @kehinde_andrews wow! Excellent speaker, engaging content, hideous facts. UK has ~23000 professors, ~160 are black (~0.7%). A nation with a 3-4% black population - hard to deny systemic and institutional racism @SamSharpeProj #blackhistorymonth #BLM
