Really good half from #NCFC. Limited Blackburn defensively, controlled possession and created enough chances for Josh Sargent to score four on a good day. Now the challenge is to keep it up, but against 10 men they’ll back themselves (forget about last year).

#NCFC are hopeful and confident that Mattsson will be registered in time to feature at Blackburn tomorrow. He’s already played 10 games for Silkeborg this season, so match fitness unlikely to be an issue.

#NCFC have completed the signing of Pelle Mattsson from Silkeborg for an initial £2.7m, rising to £3m. Someone they’ve tracked for a long while and moved quickly back to with Marcelino Núñez joining Ipswich. Mattsson signs a three-year deal with a club option.

There it is. Confirmation of perhaps the most controversial #NCFC transfer story in recent memory. Hard to argue with the £10m fee, but there will still be many City fans who will feel that Ben Knapper shouldn’t have picked up the phone. Will be an interesting reunion.

Understand that #NCFC’s midfielder Marcelino Núñez is set to join #ITFC for a package worth an initial £7.5m+£2.5m in ‘achievable bonuses’. City keen to keep the player but he’s rejected two contract offers. Pelle Mattsson set to be his replacement for £2.7m + £300k add-ons.

Exact quote on transfers: “It’s the transfer window, right? You never know what happens. It’s such a fluid, evolving time of year that anything can happen.” Doesn’t give too much away but certainly not ruling activity (in or out) out at this stage.

Really poor second half from #NCFC. Didn’t make Southampton work particularly hard for the win and looked like they’d given up on getting back into the game after the second goal. Several concerns and another underlining of how essential Josh Sargent is.

Thought that was a really good performance for the most part by #NCFC, but a sloppy concession undoes them again. Good halves from Jurasek, Topic, Darling and Chrisene, but they need to cut those errors out. Great Cameron Archer finish punished them.

Should be an interesting one tonight. Plenty of exciting players, particularly in that forward line, and a chance for #NCFC to get a first home win without much pressure. A good test for many of the players on the fringes of Liam Manning’s squad.

The sort of performance today that underscores how much #NCFC still have to work on. Some positive signs from Diallo, Kvistgaarden and Sargent (of course), but on the ball they’re still working out how to create chances, and they need to cut out the defensive errors.

#NCFC disjointed in possession and calamitous without it. Looked like they were getting there in an attacking sense, but when you concede two goals that poor you always give yourself a massive task. Vladan Kovacevic miles off the hero of last weekend.
