The tweets 'demonising' defence barristers for doing their jobs is scary. I work as a defence digital forensics expert. I work on cases involving murder, terrorism, rape of minors, indecent images, drug gangs, firearms cases you name it. I specialise in serious crime. 1/4
My Nan is 90 today but is sadly spending her birthday in hospital still having tests after her fall. She cannot have visitors.
I wonder if the ‘people in my phone’ as she’s call them (I.e. Twitter) could wish her well.
Escalated up a notch in M&S when I ask for a till and the lady of self service stated they will scan it for me and I refused and ask (politely) for a till to be put on.
I will die on this sword and shops that don’t have tills I won’t shop at.
One of the things that annoys me (and as I get older a lot seems to) is that there is an assumption being single is so much cheaper - it really isn't and you only have one person to do all the jobs (or have to pay £££ to hire someone). It is rather exhausting (and expensive).
I get sleepless nights (even nightmares at times) & I imagine barristers also experience similar due to what we see/read. However, we still do it since we believe in Justice. It is is *vital* we can do our work without fear otherwise it threatens our whole Justice system. End.
I cannot refuse to attend Court as an Expert (I'd be in contempt), however, just to be clear, I won't be taking any instructions involving new/returned Counsel/HCA post 26/06.
The Bar need to stand firm since this I fear this is your last chance at saving the Justice system.
My job is to check the Prosecution's work is correct. This is a vital checks and balances approach since mistakes *do* happen.
It also means I address any explanations the defendant has, to check if the technical evidence supports or refutes their accounts. 2/4
This ensures Justice is done and that the defendant has a fair trial. It is vital as are experienced legal teams otherwise a large number of appeals would be allowed.
I don't have to like any of the things that happen in my cases, I am not here to have any such judgements. 3/4
A commotion in Waitrose tonight - someone put their bag down ready to pay and a mouse popped up out of it…..they can only assume their cat has brought one in and it’s been in her bag including going to work all day 🤣.
A chap in queue grabbed mouse and took it outside 🐭 😂
Wow, one of the local pubs has been out and set up a shop for the village supplying dog food, eggs, tins, sugar, cleaning items etc. they are also making frozen home cooked ready meals. No profiteering neither. £2.50 mince and onions/hotpot, £3 lasagna/curry. Brilliant.
Lots in press and on twitter today about police and defence having access to complainant’s phones. Well often I am the one who gets that defence access - often only me who has the full phone access and not solicitors/barristers and certainly not defendants.
A thread...
Who is this idiot on Jeremy Vine talking about people in the North like we only got electricity yesterday? Absolute tosh. There are not huge differences between the North and South, we are not second class citizens. Sick of hearing it!
#JeremyVine
Funeral all went well and I even did a decent job of the eulogy too.
Various people said that I am like her, and I think that's the best acclaim anyone could even give me.
Bless her. Rest well.
@kirkkorner
It is a shame these people are being penalised for being honest and incriminating themselves when the TV licensing are behaving so deplorable. My understanding is they have no right of entry. People would best not to engage with them at all and shut the door.
Oscar is currently having emergency surgery since he has eaten something he shouldn't have and has an obstruction. I am absolutely passed myself with worry and so upset.
I am not religious but please keep him in your thoughts to come through it and get better.
Poor Bella (Bells) died this morning. She made the effort to go back to roost with buggerlugs one last time last night and he has been with her to the end.
She was a sweet little hen and a super mum. Nearly 8 1/2 years old.
Nan passed away at just after noon today. She was comfortable and I was with her.
She’s had pretty much every care staff member visit her (even on their days off) since they all loved her.
Well twitter.....I am 40. I hate my photo taken. At the moment I have many grey hair strands, little makeup since it isn’t me, lipstick smudged due to mask, bushy brows & I’ve put my hair in a bun since although it is long it really needs a trim. But that is life and me!
I sometimes wonder why I am forever single….
Others when birthday coming up: get hair done, perfume, plan a weekend away, buy a new dress….
Me: I think I may treat myself to a taxidermy tawny owl 🤣😂🤣😂
I am really torn about voting - I don’t like the idea of not voting since a lot of brave women fought for me to have that right…..and to not just draw cats….
On the other hand to be frank, they are all fooking shite! The end result will be I will pay more and get less…..
This last public image of the Queen reminds me so much of my Nan. When I saw it on Tuesday I had a few tears (Nan has dementia).
Although her passing is sad, at 96 to still have her mind and to die at home with dignity, serving her Country right to the end is absolutely lovely.
Nearly lost my yellow label pie in Waitrose since someone thought my trolley was the reduced one 🤣. It has happened many times but nicking a woman’s pie - that is fighting talk 😂
I actually cannot believe what I have read here - west midlands police wanting digital forensic volunteers and for them to sit and view indecent images of children! It is an absolute disgrace and a disaster waiting to happen!
What do you think of this Twitter? A play on a tux and a dress (and in the sale).......
I did used to always wear a bowtie with a ball gown and like the play on the two....
I checked Oscar twice during the night and he just stayed in his bed but was ok.
However, what a lovely sight this morning, when Oscar was up & waiting for me tail wagging. He then asked for his breakfast 😂
I’ve never been so pleased to see a dog hoover up some chicken. Oscar would not eat anything last night. I went to bed 1:30. Got up to check at 6 that he was ok and he was there tail wagging. I said “do you want some chicken?” and he did his excited get me food now spins.
To avoid any doubt, note that I will only be providing digital forensic expertise to trial instructed solicitors and Counsel. If a returned case determines they need digital forensic input, this won't be provided by me.
As much as I like
@AldiUK
, I do not approve of this. Come on you need to be championing British food and farmers, not meat flown literally half way around the world when we’ve brilliant lamb here with no air miles!
This is my kind of bacon - the pigs bred, reared, butchered, made into their own bacon and sausages and sold in their own farm shop!
Oh and I got a jar of local heather honey too.

I've heard various stories, and yes, even private UK dentists refuse to see people when they have issues with proceedures done elsewhere.
Implants/Crowns are not something to take likely and do involve other teeth being reduced to stumps. They have to be replaced regularly.
In my 20s I’d be out on a Friday night..in my 40s I’ve changed the sheets, reset the bed to my gooooorgeoooous bedding and I am waiting to switch the electric blanket on 😂.
I will later get into a warm bed and exclaim “oooo lovely” 🤣
When the World is just a total shower of shit, there is a lot to be said about being in the garden just digging.
We have made modern life far too complex.
Finally got my grandad’s chair in my home, well that’s how I think of it. It was the last thing he bought Nan & unfortunately he never saw it since he died before it was finished. Nan wanted me to have it.
I’m an expert witness in IT & telecoms with over 15 years experience and over 10y in business. I work on serious cases including murder, terrorism, drugs country lines, sexual offences etc.
I pay corporation tax, income tax, NI

One thing I have come to accept this year is that it is ok that I like to be at home. I’ve made it nice with lots of art and have my garden….so I don’t have to force myself to have ‘fun’ or go out in terrible weather because I think I should. I am quite happy in my home.
I asked the florist making Nana’s flowers (which are really lovely) to also make me a bouquet for home.
“Eulogy final.pdf” has been saved and printed……red lipstick will go on in the morning…..
Checking through my phone and I found this. Probably didn’t post it at the time (from a few months ago) since I wasn’t keen but I am 43 and no filters….it is only downhill from ‘ere! 🤣
Thank goodness for train information. Turns out that one train a day going to Newcastle from Hexham goes from the other platform (there are only two). Other people were also nearly caught out too!
Red lipstick is on and I am embracing the grey hairs!
I am absolutely shattered this evening. I’ve not really been able to concentrate on work today (which is complex so not much progress made). I think it is just the past few days events have been rather draining. Is anyone else feeling the same?
Good news Twitter - histology have confirmed Oscar had an adenoma (non-cancerous tumor) on his bottom - so removal & castration was the correct treatment and we are hoping that will solve the issue going forward.
As for his bottom being like a trumpet...... 🤣
When you send yourself a present from the dog and cat, you don’t anticipate what may happen if it has delivery problems.
I summarised it to Fortnums that I’d sent a gift to myself 🤣
What is not relevant? Anything not relating to the case. I certainly wouldn’t be exhibiting anything about messages to others, pictures, where they have been and with whom unless it is absolutely relevant to what has been alleged to have happened.
No powercut it is just nice and cosy……
I hope all who are out have a lovely night and Best Wishes to all for 2024.
Most important thing I have learnt in 2023: cheap loo roll 🧻 is not a bargain - you’ll end up with a sore arse!
This thread is awful. Vets are businesses the price you pay has to pay for the premises, business rates, 24/7 on-call, theatre ready and waiting if there is an emergency, X-rays and tests on site, tax, and all the other business expenses - it isn’t cash in the vet’s pocket.
My dog got a grass seed stuck in his paw which developed into a blood blister.
Vet wanted to take him in overnight and operate on his paw at a cost of £750. So instead, I applied Sudocrem to the wound and within the hour it was all sorted.
How do vets sleep at night?
Amazingly Oscar when I asked if wanting a walk wagged his tail and went to the door. He’s had a little stroll and has been to the toilet. He is now settled and asleep. Bless him.
Thank you for all your well wishes - I have read them all and I am grateful. Nan is now on end of life care but she is settled.
Lily sensed I needed to be covered in cat hairs this morning since she treated me like I was on par with a tin of tuna. Oscar always loves cuddles.
Oscar is home but he is really out of it from the anaesthetic and memory loss. He cannot be bothered but has wagged his tail when he sees me. It’s breaking me seeing him like this.
Oscar has come around and is OK.
The vet strongly thinks he has adenomas (non-cancerous tumors - tissue is being sent off hopefully for the lab to confirm) so it sounds very much like the decision to go in quick with an op and to also castrate him was the best one.

@waitrose
@GuideDogAva
I am sad to hear this. In my local Waitrose people even bring in the dogs in training and staff and customers alike absolutely love seeing them.
Sorry to hear what you’ve experienced.
Poor bugger has an arse like the Japanese flag (and we won’t talk about the bits missing) but he is still dancing around for some chicken, I am not giving him a lot since I know he actually feels hungry and sick at the same time. But you can see he is ok.
I had a chat with the manager of volunteers at

abbey yesterday. I am going to have a couple of ‘shifts’ shadowing stewards (they are the people who welcome people to the building) and see how I get on.
It’s dreadful to hear people stating those self employed/with own business “are not declaring all their earnings anyways”. That’s a big asssumption 5 million people are committing a serious offence of FRAUD.
Every penny of mine is accounted for & double checked by my accountant.
Vet is very pleased with Oscar. Temp all normal (the indignity of it aside!) . They are especially pleased with the 4 (now 5) post operative little poops since it means his bowel is operating normally.
A quiet day for us both today is in order.
Not everyone’s cup of tea but I have treat myself to a taxidermy peacock (if you do not like such things please just scroll on). He is utterly magnificent and stands 7 foot tall on an antique plinth.
Just look at my Nan’s lovely smile. She really lifted my spirits and she enjoyed herself too chatting, laughing and especially eating trifle.
It absolutely puts the simplistically of life in perspective. She is still teaching me stuff……
#dementia
Corbridge post office - as someone in a rural area with their village post office now gone & needing post office for banking, I agree we need to support or lose them. As well as them mostly being run as small businesses & actions of the Post Office are no reflections on them.
I keep thinking “I’ll ring my aunt & tell her….” so instead I’ll tell you Twitter.
Had a lovely visit with Nan today. She was quite lucid. When leaving she said to me “can I have a cuddle?” then when I cuddled her she said “I love you”. Both me & carer had stuff in our eyes.
Looking though my grandfather’s most precious and sentimental photographs and things I find my first business card. Just randomly in there. I would have thought nothing of it…he obviously did.
I’ve found their wedding photo in there too which is what I have been looking for.
