One of the determinants of health is individual behavior. A way that RNs can advocate to improve individual behavior is through identifying risk behaviors & opportunities for individual change, and patient education. This is an individual level of advocacy. #NUR4108 #W8 #Scarton

As a leader/mgr, I'd analyze the workflows for pt discharge, report/handoff, pt xfer, & pt admission. I'd identify process dependencies and assess related timeline policy goal appropriateness. I'd solicit RN & transport feedback for perceived delay causes. #NUR4108 #W7 #Scarton

Minimum chemo competency of RNs caring for pts receiving chemo has many stakeholders; patients & families, physicians directing the tx plans, RN staff (Onc RNs & non/floats), quality & patient safety committees of institutions, researchers & Rx developers. #NUR4108 #W6 #Scarton

ASCO/ONS Chemotherapy Administration Safety Standards were initially drafted in 2009, last revised in 2016. Standards 1.1 - 1.14 pertain to competencies of RN staff administering chemo but minimum competencies of all RNs caring for these pts is not covered.#NUR4108 #W4 #Scarton

Non-punitive PSO data sharing -> better analyzing & understanding opportunity for improving pt safety. CF-S allows for apples:apples data analysis, ultimately driving visibility to pt safety holes. "A learning health system" = 👍 for Pts & RNs #NUR4108 #W3 #Scarton #HB111 #SB424

I am interested in the policy that addresses Chemotherapy Competency for all RNs caring for pts who are getting chemo. As a Hem/Onc/BMT RN, I am concerned about pt safety when we have many floats/travelers without specialty experience caring for our pt population. #NUR4108 #W1

Looking forward to learning to understand and leverage policy to lead change and better advocate for my patients and fellow nurses. #nur4108
