I joined one of the big 4 in 2000. Salary was 2.5 p.a (I got a clerk post on Tamil Nadu state at the same time, the salary was 6-7 k. I could buy a second hand apartment by 2006. The Indian IT industry was responsible for lifting millions into the middle class in 2010s
When I graduated in 2000, Infosys paid 2.5 lakh starting salary.
Today they still pay the same salary for new graduates.
