Something for the weekend. This is still one of my most popular blogs. It's part of a series but it's ok to dip in. The blog post is about the IRA attack on Loughgall RUC station in 1987 and the related counter-terrorist operation.

Down the ADHD rabbit hole we go. If only I had known this about myself over all of those long decades of. well, being quite happy and positive actually. An alternative course of action, if your friends don't like your quirks, is just to get new friends. Clearly your old

I know two people; one has Asperger's syndrome and the other has quite severe autism. The person with Asperger's is doing remarkably well and has overcome a lot of obstacles that life threw at him early in life. A bright future awaits and he didn't get to where he is through

I think ADHD has become the new "trans kids" but obviously there is rather less commitment required. There are people with genuine neural problems but there are also people who would benefit from getting inside a time machine and heading back to the pre-internet era, when there.

We’ve reached the point where questioning whether ADHD or autism might be overdiagnosed gets the same reaction as denying the Holocaust. More ideological capture.

Mind Wandering Mode. I have mentioned previously that we have two mental states; mind wandering mode and central executive mode (which gives you focus). If you are curious, here's a brief Google AI overview for mind wandering mode. As you can see, there are benefits and.

Another ADHD post. I was thinking that since it's all the rage these days to be on a spectrum, it might help my social media profile to find my place on a spectrum. It seems only fair as I've put in the hours. Here's an article detailing three types of ADHD. I opted for type.

I posted earlier about ADHD and that a lot of people may be on medication they don't actually need. Quite a few might not even have a disorder. I think culture and technology is playing a part in this. I have posted below a summary from Google AI. As you can see, use of.

I posted some comments on this topic recently (see BBC article below). Check out the last sentence in this June article. It refers to criticism of too many people being given drugs to treat the disorder. And that's sopposing they actually have a 'disorder'. For context, think of.

And to prove my point, Don Johnson (Crockett) just introduced Tom Petty. 😀.

Live Aid, the music, the fashion and the hair, is getting me nostalgic for the 1980s. It wasn't the greatest of decades but I would swap it for the 2020s. Just under a year before Live Aid, Miami Vice was first broadcast. Add Crockett and Tubbs to the Live Aid music, hair and

I'm watching Live Aid from 1985 and thinking that even with all the bad things that were going on in the 80s, it was still better than the 2020s. For one thing, people seemed happier and more optimistic about the future. Things appeared to be moving in the right direction.

Live Aid in 1985. I had forgotten how good Sade was on the day. One of the highlights.

I'm watching the Live Aid concert. Spare a thought for every musician in a band, who went on stage and performed, thinking they would be seen on TV around the world, then went home, watched the video and realised they were almost invisible. So far, a female keyboard player in.

If I was a kid today and explained my thought processes to a doctor or 'therapist', how I process information, they would probably say I have a disorder and I'd be on medication for the rest of my life. But here's the thing, I don't think I have a disorder and even calling it a.

Can we stop calling everything ADHD? This is a normal human thing. Everyone self-diagnosising ADHD is dividing their attention by "multitasking", drinking caffeine too early in the morning and too late in the evening, and giving themselves brain-rot with doom-scrolling and.

One reason I'm avoiding certain topics on here at present, is that social media can become groundhog day. It's partly software algorithms and partly human nature. Sometimes you have to make a conscious effort, be proactive in countering the algorithms and human nature. It's
