We followed Msuthlu Pride tracks deeper into the reserve & found them sprawled out, enjoying the cool morning. After weeks of hunting success, they’ve stayed put, but with prey now alert, it won’t be long before they must move on. #lions #safari #wildlife

After a long tracking effort, we found Golonyi resting atop a small rock bank. We sat in silence, savouring the reward of our hard work. Not long after, she disappeared into a drainage line, most likely returning to where her youngster was waiting for her after a night of hunting

A kudu moves in silence as the sun begins to set - ears attuned to every sound, ever watchful for predators in the growing dusk. #kudu #sunset #antelope #safari

We came across the Tengile female #leopard as she was actively marking her territory. With her previous cub now independent, she may be ready for a new chapter - potentially preparing to mate again.

Morning safaris are full of surprises. Fresh male lion tracks led towards the Msuthlu Pride where we found the Gijima males. The buffalo kill was gone, but the Gijima males’ visit still mattered—leaving their scent, checking the pride & marking their presence for rivals. #lions

Chaos erupted as hyenas moved in on the Msuthlu Pride’s kill. Lionesses pounced, hyenas scattered, only to return again. After a tense back-and-forth, the scavengers finally grabbed the last bones—nature’s fierce battle for every meal. #wildlife #safari

The Msuthlu Pride usually hunts wildebeest & zebra, but in late winter they target buffalo. Weak from conserving energy, buffalo become easy prey for 14 hungry lions - a stark reminder of nature’s seasonal challenges.

We watched as a huge herd of #buffalo became active in the early morning, moving towards a nearby waterhole to quench their thirst. Within these herds, the powerful bulls typically position themselves on the outskirts, standing guard to shield the females & calves from attack.

A Pied Kingfisher enjoying a well-earned lunch. After hovering and diving into the water, it returned with a fish, which it hit against a branch to kill and soften before swallowing. Nature’s precision at work. #Wildlife #Birding #Nature

Early mornings in the bush carry quiet promise. Near Bush Lodge, fresh tracks led us to Golonyi, a female leopard on the hunt. Watching her move with purpose - alert to every sound - was a masterclass in patience and precision. A true privilege. #wildlife #leopard

Often positioned near water, the #waterbuck chooses resting spots that offer both comfort and quick access to escape routes. In this peaceful moment, it conserves energy and remains alert, blending into its surroundings while keeping a watchful eye on potential threats. #safari

One of the great privileges of life in the bush is getting to know individual animals over time. The Msuthlu Pride is a prime example — we've watched them grow, evolve, and now see the eldest cubs nearing sub-adulthood. A legacy in the making. #wildlife #lions #safari

We spotted something rare while watching #elephants in a Tamboti thicket — one cow had a striking white iris. Not albinism, but likely localised leucism, with pigment loss limited to the eye. Elephant eyes are usually amber, making this pale iris truly extraordinary. #wildlife

A chaotic morning scene: the Styx male and a Kambula lioness fled past us — seconds later, the Gijima males came striding purposefully down the road, passing us as they pressed on in determined pursuit. #lions

After initially being disappointed by the clouds were obscuring the rising sun, our mood quickly changed when the rays of light broke through, casing a breathtaking glow. We stopped by a herd of #zebra & witnessed an incredible scene – silhouettes against an amazing, golden sky.

After a day tracking a shy female leopard, we ended with G&Ts by the Sabie River — when a male leopard emerged from the reeds, calling, stretching, and yawning on a rock before disappearing into the night. #leopard #bigcat #safari

Whilst out on a drive, we noticed a shape sticking out of a hole in a dead tree. After a closer look, we were delighted to see that it was a Rock Monitor. They are seen like this sometimes although spotting them is very difficult due to their camouflage. #wildlife #nature

As the Msuthlu Pride fed, hyenas circled in the dark, waiting. By morning, a big female hyena had dragged her share of the buffalo into the shade, guarding it from vultures and rivals. Patience pays in the bush. #hyena #nature #safari
