Netflix is sticking its neck out because it thinks there's a market here. If you want to help break the taboo on representation of Palestinian stories, reward Netflix's decision by clicking on the movie, watching it the whole way (or just let it run in the bg), and liking it.

I was making dua in the Rawdah, and I wanted to make dua for marriage. But I didn't want to just ask for a wife - I wanted to ask to be in love with her. I wasn't sure what niyyah I could have that would turn that love into ibadah Later, as I was making dua, a thought came to me

We made khatam last night, and in reading Surat al-Duha, I realized something I hadn't before. Allah swt recounts the ways in which He bestowed His favors on the Rasul (saw) when he was in the lowest and most vulnerable times in his life up to that point.

There are three things a Muslim should never give up, no matter how low their taqwa is or how guilty they feel: 1. Fajr 2. Reciting Quran everyday 3. Make dua If you miss fajr, pray it late. If you can't read Quran well, just a few ayahs. If you miss a day, run it back tomorrow

I wore an all black shalwaar kameez today. At a 7/11, a woman almost swore, then looked at me and said, "I'm sorry father."

The day of Arafa is a day of dua, but also a day of seeking forgiveness. It became plainly clear to me today how desensitized I've gotten to my own small sins: a word said in jest that hurts someone, a look held a bit too long, etc Let me not lose jannah to a thousand paper cuts

Sometimes, we are denied what we want because, if we were to get it, it would make us forget about Allah. We would be so engrossed in our joys that they would cause us to forget our purpose in life This was me 12 years ago. Had I gotten what I wanted, I would've forgotten Allah

After we escaped from my father, my mother was very worried that I would grow up to hate my manhood due to my father's abuses. So she did 2 things: surrounded me with male role models and kept the memory of her father - a real man's man of immense character - alive in my heart

This is not to say that good food is a bad thing. But if it comes at the cost of Quran, tarawih, etc, then our priorities are definitely misplaced. Simple food and excessive ibadah is far better than excessive food and simple ibadah

As someone who grew up without a father, I can say this with absolute certainty: there's no substitute for a good father: one who plays with his children when they are young, teaches them when they are older, mentors them when they're adults, and loves them throughout their lives

There are two ayahs in Surat Jaathiya that explain the entire modern condition: Have you seen those who have taken their own desires as their god? หนSo Allah left them to stray knowingly, sealed their hearing and hearts, and placed a cover on their sight. Who then can guide them

Every Muslim must have these words chiseled onto their heart such that to erase it, the heart itself must be erased: The ummah of Muhammad (saw) cannot be defeated. Even when we have reached within a stone's throw of the last day, and we are so few that all of us can fit intoโ€ฆ

If you love someone (friend, family, partner) who is in the depths of depression, the biggest thing you can do for them is to just be there. It is also the hardest. Love makes us feel inadequate, because we feel we just don't have the ability to return the love we're being given.

Love isn't a romantic feelgood emotion: It's painful, laborious, has responsibilities This is the same with loving Allah. It requires the pain of sacrificing what you love for what He loves and laboring to beautify your character for His sake. Love isn't just emotion but action
