Let us officially say that singing, chanting, dancing, and sharing hot chocolate and coffee isn’t a crime in New York, unless our Provost insists it is.
We deny her accusation.

The Provost just won’t stop lying to the university about our union
@SW_Columbia
and what we do. Picketers were actively discouraged from physical contact with CU students and staff. We have also documented more than a dozen instances of violence against picketers.

Nah that was a wholesome picket line if I’ve ever seen one. There were folks getting aggressive pushing through because they knew they were doing the wrong thing by crossing.
If you are not a SWC member and you showed up to support our picket yesterday, 12/8, we need your help. The University is falsely alleging that picket participants were "violent." Please add your signature below to attest that there was no such violence.
@SW_Columbia
I too can attest that there was no aggression on behalf of the picketers, they were so courteous in explaining their cause & asking people to not cross, in fact I’m not sure I ever heard anyone say it without literally saying “please”
This is a disgusting tactic by

It’s hard to explain to those who haven’t dealt with it directly just how aggressively toxic power politics in academia/higher education can get.
Missouri is a single party consent state: document through video and audio all interactions public and private.
Protect ya neck.

If singing and dancing and sharing snacks is a crime, please try to lock us up
@Columbia
Provost, because that's pretty much what we do at most Jewish holidays.
@SW_Columbia
Why was Altair Engineering Inc. board member Boyce undemocratically chosen as Columbia U. Inc.
provost, if corporate insterests Boyce represents conflict with economic class interests of most Columbia academic workers and students?
@SW_Columbia
I didn’t see any of what is alleged by the Provost in my time at the picket yesterday afternoon – if anything it was those crossing the line being rude
