When @BorisJohnson first stood for Mayor of London he was faced by Ken Livingston. Late in the campaign it was clear that KL was likely to lose and at the last minute he offered 24/7 use of the 60+ card as a bribe. Previously it had not operated in the morning rush hour.

@BorisJohnson immediately matched KL’s offer and, when elected, it was he that introduced 24/7 operation. So was that a principled move by @BorisJohnson based on the need of Londoners or a cynical and opportunistic electoral ploy?
