Unsurprisingly, our current system is not serving Māori equitably. This is manifested by the significantly higher re-presentation rates (OR 2.75) in the Māori cohort.

This cohort had a median of 4 fractured ribs 🫢. We found that 11% developed pneumonia🦠, 8% were readmitted♻️ and 2% died. There was significant variation in access to recommended MDT management: only 58% had pain team review, 23% a regional block and 2% surgical fixation🛠️.
