I can relate the criticism Wirtz is getting to what Ozil faced when he first arrived in England. Much like Ozil, Wirtz needs to learn to ride challenges, trade-off some of his creativity for better ball retention. You can't be creative from the bench.

Since people are taking this out of context — I was just flabbergasted by the impact of recency bais that shifted the narrative around Ødegaard after a 8 minutes cameo. I have personally always maintained he's a phenomenal player with few limitations.
I mean he had a good game against Newcastle, no doubt, but the sort of Ødegaard revisionism I'm seeing is a prime example of recency bais.
