THIS is 100% why I feel people are taking #TheNightManager S2 for granted: With the espionage genre’s largely conservative demographic… Jonathan’s explicit bisexuality and Teddypine being the love story of the season is such a massive fucking risk and FEAT, even today.
A subtle nod to James Bond’s bisexuality almost didn’t make it into SKYFALL. His line to Silva, “What makes you think this is my first time?” was nearly cut, but Barbara Broccoli fought to keep it. Sam Mendes called it a “homoerotic undertow.”
