God damn, Ilia did it 😞. Ilia set up a rhythm of leaning side to side early in the fight.
He leans side to side again, Volk thinks he'll lean again to the right and tries to time it with a kick - Ilia proactively fires a 2 to counter the kick instead.
Simple but effective.

Volk loves to hand trap/probe.
He establishes this early in fights and starts feinting it, establishing a jab off it the probe and then establishing 2s or leg kicks.
Along with subtle lead feints + step feints.
Different shots, feints + looks all off the hand trap = synergy.
Rewatching the 3rd Max and Zombie fights made something clear to me about Volk. He's really refined his fundamentals to where he can use both complicated pattern establishment and switches + positioning and footwork to set up shots. Kinda keeps it more simple but effective now.
