JJs are named after the expedition party of the same name, whose former name was Red Alone. These 2 inspired both the animal’s affectionate and species name. JJs live deep in the rainforests of Southeast Asia. They are revered by local villages as protectors of the humanity.

The Jet Jaguar (Jagarhylus rubrosolus) is the largest species of gibbon, standing far over 5 feet and weighing around 129 pounds. JJs are still very acrobatic in the trees but are noticeably more fond of walking on the ground with the help of makeshift canes, sometimes spears.

Like its relatives, Tiamat have divided dorsal and anal fins that appear sharp for defensive display. What’s really unique is their oral frill, used for display, communication, and catching prey. It is similar in structure to the toad-headed agama lizard.
