Bike Breakfast 2024 - Next Wednesday from 7AM at the Dunedin Railway Station!!! As per usual there will be a delicious breakfast and lots of possibilities to exchange ideas on how to improve cycling in our city.

Many thanks all of you that turned up to the bike breakfast this morning- there was a wonderful vibe and the weather was mostly kind! I've started processing the email addresses and the 25 maps - some great suggestions and lots of useful stuff to take forward.

Today I met with officials in Helsinki, which has had a ~75% drop in road deaths over the last thirty years (including recent years with no ped/cyclist deaths at all). Me: “How much of a role has IT played in reducing crashes?”. City official: “Zero. We simply slowed down cars.”.

In almost any other situation, this ability to save lives would be grasped and implemented immediately. However, because of the power of the private car lobby, we still find ourselves trying and trying again to get something so obvious implemented.
