West Dunbartonshire knows the value of having a say 🗳️ West Dunbartonshire was one of the four areas to vote Yes in 2014, showing our communities’ long-standing belief in having the power to shape our own country. Today, that belief is as strong as ever.

🌳 SNP councillors warned Labour of the consequences of these short-sighted decisions - which is why we voted against this cut at the budget meeting in March. 🥀 Unlike Labour, we’ll always put communities before cuts.

🔁 After a summer of discontent for residents across West Dunbartonshire, Labour have been forced to U-turn on their cuts to greenspace maintenance & grass cutting. 🗣️ This climbdown only happened because our communities stood together and made their voices impossible to ignore.

Labour promised cheaper energy bills, but instead, they are £150 higher than this time last year. People will go into this winter struggling to heat their homes. In an energy-rich country, that is unacceptable. Westminster won’t fix this – but with independence, Scotland can.

Even more embarrassing, we’re the only council in the Glasgow City Region Deal not accredited. This is an insult to our workforce and a disgraceful position for Labour to drag our area into. 🗞️

Labour’s shameful delay in committing West Dunbartonshire Council to becoming a Real Living Wage accredited employer is now gaining national traction. West Dunbartonshire is one of only four local authorities in Scotland that still isn’t committed to paying the Real Living Wage.

I recently enjoyed a visit to Bankie Talk alongside Councillor @GordonScanlan. The organisation have been running since 1989 for the benefit of blind or partially sighted people in West Dunbartonshire and the surrounding area.

Scotland is open for business. According to the latest @EYnews survey, Scotland is the UK’s top destination for investment outside of London – for the 10th year in a row! It means more jobs, more opportunities and a stronger economy.

During today’s full council meeting my motion calling for funding to be ring-fenced to support women, children and young people experiencing domestic violence passed unanimously.
