What does this mean for patients?.-Potential to reduce/eliminate invasive biopsies. -Diagnose and treat in a single setting, providing a “one-stop shop” approach. -Reduced/no waiting time for biopsy results. -Earlier diagnosis and treatment for basal cell carcinoma.

The study found that a minimal application of 10 µM with gauze for as little as 5 minutes achieved sufficient dermal penetration. PARPi-FL achieved a strong fluorescent signal in basal cell carcinoma cells and was comparatively weaker in benign tissue.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer and is treatable if caught early. But its current diagnosis relies on biopsy, which is invasive, painful, and can leave scars. Plus, waiting for results delays treatment and demands repeat patient visits to providers.

@JournalofNucMed The findings show that PSMA PET/CT is a valuable tool in selecting candidates for salvage radiotherapy treatment. This means: fewer patients receive unnecessary treatment and more patients get appropriate care.
