David Gergen, a veteran of Washington politics and an adviser to four presidents from both parties, has died. He was 83.

The Tate Lecture Series mourns the loss of David Gergen, longtime moderator of the Linda and Mitch Hart Lecture. In his honor, the SMU Center for Presidential History director position will bear his name.
