Alan McDonald has proudly represented the SMEA for nearly 50 years and is a great man with a wonderful family. Alan is also a very good friend to the SMEA. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family during this very difficult time.

It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that Betsy McDonald, Daughter of our union attorney Alan McDonald passed away on Wednesday. Oct 24th with her loving family by her bedside. Betsy was just 32 years old and was diagnosed two years ago with an aggressive cancer.

Tune into @SCATV tonight at 7pm to see Ed’s discussion with Joe Kirylo president of the steelworkers local 12003. 1250 members have been locked out of National Grid since June 24th. National Grid earned a profit of $4.5 billion last year and are now putting profit before safety.

A big congrats to @uncle_jude on his member of the month award at @SCATV! Jude is the videographer for the Somerville Labor Show and also volunteers as a photographer for the union. We could not put on our #labor show without him!

Yesterday, the SMEA as part of Somerville Stands Together were honored to march with our peers while representing labor unions from Davis Sq to Harvard Sq. Massive parade showing their support. Unions and labor are still alive and well. Yes on questions 1,2 and,3.
