MPSSAA announced today that winter sports season will take place Feb 1 through March 27; fall season March 15 through May 8; spring season April 26 through June 19. Playoffs and state tournaments are TBD.

SMCPS has approved a return to first semester athletics engagement beginning on Monday, September 21, 2020. The plan will include virtual engagement, in-person weight training and conditioning, skill development, team practices, intra-school scrimmages, and in-county scrimmages.

Leonardtown High School recently did some major upgrades to their weight room by adding multiple squat/bench racks, new plates, bars, and dumbbells. Student-athletes, this is where championships are won.

Congratulations to Leonardtown High School on winning the 2022-2023 SMCPS County Cup in its inaugural year. The County cup is awarded to the SMCPS high school who compiled the most points based on wins in in-county competition throughout the sports year.

SMCPS Athletics will be competing in the 1st annual St. Mary's County Cup competition. The 3 HS's will earn points for conference wins across all 3 seasons against county teams for JV & V. The school with the most points will receive the trophy & keep it at their school each year

SMCPS has approved a return to "outdoor only" summer training and conditioning beginning on Monday, July 13, 2020. Participating students will be required to have a current physical on file with the school and a signed Covid-19 Form. Press Release:
SMCPS will resume full participation in athletics on Monday, January 10, 2022 with the same guidelines that have been in place since the beginning of winter sports. Make sure you wear your mask at all times indoors. Everyone is responsible for ensuring our continued participation
The St. Mary's County Cup has been made. Thank you to Trophies By Design for the exceptional craftsmanship. After the fall season the point totals are as follows:
LHS - 350 pts
CHS - 175 pts
GMHS - 85 pts

Leonardtown appears ready for infill next week. Chopticon turf is scheduled to begin next week. GMHS is finishing up numbers and logo early next week. SMCPS Turf 2022 is inching towards the finish line.
We will not be returning in-person to the classroom, court, mat, track, or pool on January 4, 2021. Based on local COVID-19 data, we will determine if & when our student athletes may return to begin the winter season. More information will be communicated as it becomes available
