🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Prioritise People: A #JustTransition must be at the centre of NDCs. Only one in five NDCs refers to transport workforce reskilling and equity. #SustainableMobility must be fair, accessible, and inclusive, ensuring benefits for all to support passengers and freight transport.

💰 Catalyse Finance: The shift to low-carbon mobility needs strong investment. Clean transport solutions will cost USD 2.7 trillion annually until 2050, seven times more than today’s levels. Investment gaps remain highest in Africa and Asia. NDCs must prioritise funding.

Secure Assets 🔒: Transport systems are increasingly vulnerable to #ClimateChange. #NDCs must integrate adaptation strategies, including resilient infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and multimodal transport planning to protect communities and ensure long-term sustainability.

⚡ Scale Up Action: Expanding public transport, cycling, and rail, while phasing out fossil fuel subsidies, is critical. The First Global Stocktake of COP28 called on countries to accelerate road transport decarbonisation through Avoid-Shift-Improve strategies and zero-emission.

📊 Where do countries stand today?. As of 26 February, only 33% of submitted NDCs include transport mitigation targets. Countries like Andorra, Botswana, Marshall Islands, Saint Lucia, Switzerland, and UAE have taken steps, but far more ambition is needed.

Set Targets🎯To stay within 1.5°C, transport emissions must drop at least 59% by 2050. NDCs must set clear targets for CO₂ reduction by 2035, increased energy efficiency, and a shift to #SustainableMobility while being aligned with net zero pathways by 2050 and solidarity.

Our work builds upon @WorldResources Five-Point Plan for Next Generation NDCs. We conducted an in-depth analysis to provide clear, actionable transport targets that strengthen ambition in the 2025 NDCs. Countries must set the right policies to align transport with climate goals.
