Matt Hodge is going to be a really, really good player for Villanova. Versatile guy who can shoot the ball. Competes on both ends… The fact he wasn’t eligible last year was ridiculous but the red-shirt year may have been a blessing in disguise for his development.

Not a single weakness on this Eagles defense right now. Especially when Adoree Jackson is playing well... Dominant front four. Versatile linebackers. Terrific secondary. And obviously an all-time great coordinator.

Just a dreadful start for this Eagles offense. Averaging 2.3 yards on their first 19 plays of the game. No rhythm whatsoever.

Tons of respect for Aaron Judge, obviously. But Cal Raleigh would have gotten my vote for AL MVP. The numbers he put up as a catcher, playing a demanding position, working with that pitching staff every night... helping the Mariners win the AL West. Just a remarkable season.

A school record 22 threes and 28 assists on 34 made field goals last night. Villanova is in a favorable stretch of their schedule… but they have a chance to be really good offensively this season. A lot of talented guys who share the ball.

Last night’s win wasn’t pretty (offensively). But the Eagles are 7-2 with wins at KC, TB & GB… 52-16 in their last 68 games. In prime position for a 3rd SB trip in the last 4 years. Important to appreciate the big picture - this is arguably the best stretch in franchise history.

Overall a pretty encouraging season opener for Villanova. BYU is very good... they're big, athletic, really talented. Villanova hung in there and had a chance to win. Impressed with Bryce Lindsay and Duke Brennan among others. Definitely some potential with this group.

Dave Roberts coming up huge with the Pages defensive replacement decision… not to mention playing Rojas the last 2 nights. Unbelievable.

Vlad Jr’s glove has been a huge factor in this game. He’s excellent defensively… an aspect of his game that’s overshadowed by his bat. Blue Jays making all the plays tonight. And the Dodgers offense has generally been poor this whole series. A glaring lack of timely hitting.

Miguel Rojas really made a difference for the Dodgers tonight. A handful of key defensive plays tonight, including the last one. Gutsy stuff from the defending champs. World Series Game 7 tomorrow night. Giddy up.
