Tracy Escobedo took first place for both Best Cover Design and Best Feature Layout Design. Alexia Frederickson also won two awards, taking second place for Best Feature Story/Serious Subject and sharing second place for Best Photo Series. (3/6).

In tonight's Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards, the @SpartanDaily took 10 first place awards, 13 second places and four third places. Alicia Alvarez took three awards, winning first place for Best News Story and second for Best Column and Best News Photo. (1/6).

Irene Milanez won statewide 3rd-place honors for Best Feature Photo, while Tracy Escobedo took 3rd place in the state for Best Illustration for her center spread in October's Faith and Religion issue. Congrats to all! (5/5).

Bryanna Bartlett also won two awards, taking 1st place for Best Newspaper Inside Design and 2nd for Best Front Page Design. Nathan Canilao and Alessio Cavalca shared 2nd place for editing the Mental Health special issue, while Myenn Rahnoma took 2nd for Page Design. (4/5).

In the CCMA statewide awards, also held at the national convention, the @SpartanDaily took 2nd place statewide for Best Special Issue/Section. Alicia Alvarez won two CCMA awards Saturday, winning first place for Best Editorial Cartoon and second for Best Newspaper Column. (3/5).

In addition to the @SpartanDaily winning 3rd place nationwide for Best Newspaper, it took 3rd place in the convention's People's Choice competition among all print publications, and the Daily's Tracy Escobedo also took tenth place nationally for Best Design. (2/5).

The @SpartanDaily took third place nationwide for Best Newspaper in the Associated Collegiate Press Best of Show competition on Saturday, one of 11 national and statewide awards won by the Daily at the ACP national convention at the Hyatt Regency Aventine in La Jolla. (1/5).

The @SpartanDaily had a very good night at the @SF_PressClub Awards Wednesday evening. The Daily was named Best College Newspaper and won 15 other awards at the gala at the Elks Lodge in San Francisco. (Thanks to @StollMichael for the photo of me with the awards certificates.)
