Last week, global leaders, industry experts, and academics came together at #SICW2024 to address the pressing cyber challenges shaping our digital future under the theme "Trust and Security in the Digital Era."

The panel discussion that followed centred on possible strategies to future- proof smart cities against evolving cyber-physical risks, how public-private partnerships can be strengthened to enhance cybersecurity resilience in securing smart city infrastructure.

Singapore’s approach to cyber-physical risks: strengthening its Cybersecurity Act, introducing a new Digital Infrastructure Act, and enhancing cybersecurity in operational technology sector with the OT Cybersecurity Masterplan.

"Building trust is a key line of effort in Singapore’s approach for Smart Nation 2.0, and we will be doing more to secure Singapore as a Smart City against cyber-physical risks," said SMS Janil.

🌍 At #SICW2024, SMS Janil Puthucheary spoke about the risk of cyber-physical threats, whereas digital disruptions can cause real-world damage and affecting lives.

The second panel covered approaches to advancing global rules, norms, and standards in cyberspace for a resilient digital environment for the future. Mr Wang Lei, the Coordinator for Cyber and Digital Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China, was the keynote speaker.

The first panel focused on the impact of the technology era on multilateralism and the role of the UN in fostering global collaboration, with Mr Nathaniel Fick, Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy for the United States as the keynote speaker.

"The key to tackling these emerging issues lies in strengthening and future-proofing the multilateral rules-based system, not retreating from it" - Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Second Minister for Education & Foreign Affairs at the HLP: Has the Era of Tech Broken Multilateralism.

Simplifying cloud security, mutual recognition of CSA's Cyber Trust mark & @cloudsa STAR Level 2 certification was also announced! ☁️📷 This mutual recognition reduces time and effort for organisations applying for either certification.

Thanks to the keynote speaker, Mr Quek Gim Pew; the moderators: Dr Vikram Sharma, Mr Gaurav Keerthi; the panellists: Mr Alexey Bocharnikov, Professor Ronald Cramer, Dr Matt Henricksen, Mr Chong Rong Hwa, Mr John Buselli, Mr Ben Packman, Dr Amelia Tan & Professor Ding Jintai.

They also delved into the challenges of establishing assurance in new quantum-safe technologies and identified potential roles for governments and industry in driving quantum-safe migration.

The panel discussed quantum-safe migration strategies, key actions necessary to safeguard digital trust in this emerging era, and examined approaches to raise awareness for quantum-safe migrations such as creating and disseminating advisories.

The High-Level Panel on 'Trust and Security in the Quantum Era' at the Singapore International Cyber Week 2024 brought together global experts to address the challenges of the quantum era and examine quantum-safe solutions.
