Last Week, we had the published North East author James Harris in school who delivered an assembly to all of Year 7 and worked with selected students in a writing workshop in the LRC.

Recently, our first group of Year9 DofE pupils took part in their Bronze expedition. This included two days of hiking around Derwent Water and a night of camping at Derwent Hill. These pupils were incredibly enthusiastic throughout. Very well done Year 9!

We hosted our final STEM event of the year as the RAF brought an exciting robotics workshop into school for our Y8 students. The session challenged students to work collaboratively while developing their problem-solving and teamwork skills through a series of engaging activities

Students from Year 7 and Year 8 took part in an international womanâs day football tournament at GOALS Sunderland. Both teams showed respect and resilience throughout the whole of the tournament. The year 7 team even went down to 4 players due to injury and still came 2nd!

We were delighted to welcome visitors from Kielder Observatory for a special astronomy experience with our students. Located within Kielder Water and Forest Park, the observatory sits in the vast Northumberland International Dark Sky Park

On Tuesday seven year 9 students took part in this year's Lego League competition at Nissan. The students have been showing outstanding dedication and resilience giving up their lunch breaks to build and code their Lego Robot. It was a fantastic day of fun and learning!

Friday morning, our students took part in an engaging workshop led by Kelly Tamplin as part of our ASPIRE character curriculum, focusing on the theme of âProudâ The session created a supportive space for students to practise speaking, take risks, and build confidence.

As part of Careers week, Year 8 Geographers visited Stagecoach in Sunderland to learn about all the careers available within the Stagecoach company. This linked into their topic of World of Work, learning all about the new opportunities provided in a post-industrial Sunderland.

At Sandhill View, World Book Day is always a highlight of the school year as it celebrates the joy of reading and encourages students to explore new books and stories. It provides a great opportunity for the whole school community to share their enthusiasm for literature.

Yr 9 students began the Routes into Medicine course with @sunderlanduni , exploring anatomy, using stethoscopes, and learning about diseases through hands-on activities. Weâre so proud of their curiosity, knowledge, and respectful engagement â excited for seminar two in March!đ©ș
