Some of our TY students set off on their Gaisce adventure journey this morning. They will be completing a 30km hike and stay overnight in Connemara as part of their award. Well done to all of the students involved!

Our Senior camogie team received jerseys today from Allianz. Allianz have provided all players with a jersey as a token of appreciation for their hard work this season and to recognise their participation in this years All Ireland Colleges’ Series.

Today, our TY students had the fantastic opportunity to watch their own rendition of Little Shop of Horrors on the big screen! A huge well done and congratulations once again to everyone involved in this exceptional production – a wonderful achievement!

Yesterday, our students took part in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) tests, an important international study that helps assess key skills in reading, maths and science. Well done to all involved! #SHSWestport #PISATesting #StudentSuccess

The Connacht Senior Schools Championship took place on Sunday 2nd February 2025 in Castlebar. All swimmers had great individual swims, with Erin Robinson winning Silver for the 200m Individual Medley. The Senior Swimmers took bronze in the Medley and Freestyle Relays

Well done to our First Year soccer team who closed out the group stages with a comfortable win today against St. Mary’s, Ballina, to remain unbeaten. A huge thanks to their coaches Maureen and Anne for all their hard work and guidance. Roll on the Quarter Finals!

A huge thank you to Liam Campion and all the staff at SuperValu for their generosity in donating free period products to SHS. This support means so much to our students and is a big help to those who need it. Well done to the SHS Student Council for leading this great initiative!

Our LCA class set up a smoothie station to provide fresh fruit smoothies for students at lunchtime. A very successful task was completed, which incorporated elements of enterprise and nutrition. Well done girls- they were simply delicious!

Best of luck to our students participating in the Mayo colleges handball competition this week. Melanie Jordan is playing in first year singles and Louise Conway and Caoilin Geraghty are playing in U16 doubles.

On Wednesday, first year students had a trip out to the cinema to see the new ‘Paddington’ movie. It was enjoyed by all and they even stopped by Paddington himself for a photo at the fairgreen!

Congratulations to our 5th Year L.C.A. students on completing their first Hotel and Catering module!. They hosted a Christmas coffee morning, raising funds for St Vincent de Paul Westport and the Westport/Aror Partnership. A huge well done to all involved! #SHSCommunity #LCA

TY students took part in a brilliant bodhrán making workshop with Micheál Vignoles, crafting bodhráns inspired by the old tu’penny bit. They decorated their creations and learned to play some rhythms - a fantastic and educational day! #TY #Bodhrán

Mr. Coyle, our Guidance Teacher, delivered an informative session for 6th Years and their parents. The presentation covered a range of valuable insights into the various pathways available after Leaving Cert. A big thank you to Mr. Coyle for his expertise and guidance!

Ms Ketterick's TY Wellbeing class took part in a yoga session on Wednesday with instructor Emmie Lekkas. The students reported finding great benefit from the practice and felt very zen & relaxed afterwards! Thank you, Emmie!
