We have officially wrapped up 4 years of Salem Unified Sports! We’ve reached incredible heights since we launched in 2022 🎉 We’re excited to hang this new art installation in SHS to recognize the many athletes & coaches who have laid the foundation for our inclusive movement!

2025 Unified Track & Field State Championships Major shoutout to Sara Balkus (D1-2 100M, D1-3 Shot Put) & Jonathan Cote (D1-2 Shot Put) for finishing 2nd in their events! We also want to celebrate our 4x100 team for finishing 3rd & setting a new program record at 57.09 seconds!

Our Salem Unified Track team placed third at the Division 1 North Sectional Meet yesterday! Our Witches showed out with ten athletes placing first in their respective events. Salem’s 4x100 team also took home first place as well! #goWitch #choosetoinclude #playunified

Ivan Santiago set a PR in Javelin (25-5ft). Yavi Gonzalez (9-2ft) & Harley Farrara-Brown (12-1ft) leaped to new PRs in Long Jump. Joe Blackburn-Peters also set a new all-time program record in the 100M dash, sprinting to a 11.1 second finish 🔴🏆⚫️

Salem Unified Track had an amazing Senior Night against Swampscott last night! Our Witches ran wild as we celebrated Jayden Lopez, Andy Nguyen, Damien Smith, and Zadrian Burris for serving as pioneers for our Unified Program that launched their freshman year.

Our 1st home meet was electric! ⚡️ Polly Babineau (15-7ft) & Angie Iglesias (12-3ft) set new PRs in Shot Put. Jayden Lopez (54-10ft) & Anson Froeschl (55-2ft) had a big day throwing Javelin. Adelis Rodriguez set a PR on Javelin (10-3ft), & Jasmine Forest leaped 9ft in long jump

Our program was thrilled to join Cub Scouts Pack 621, Bear Den tonight to share a bit about our Unified movement at Salem High! Our athletes did an incredible job sharing their favorite aspects of Unified Sports and how inclusion has shaped their experiences at Salem High!

Unified T&F started strong vs. MHD! Andy Nguyen set a PR in shot put (26-5 ft), while Erik Shehaj (13-7 ft) & Anson Froeschl (12-5 ft) set PRs in long jump. Kriss Grace (45-2 ft) & Elijah Sneed (37-9 feet) also PR’d in Javelin, & Joe Blackburn-Peters ran the 100M in 13.72 seconds
