After an enjoyable couple of years working with Bob Taylor, I am pleased to announce the 8th Edition of Volume 1 of the Zienkiewicz and Taylor series. The new edition has been heavily re-worked and notably contains introductory chapters on coupled field problems.

Finally uploaded our report with the @NguyenLabJHU group on finite elements for liquid crystal elastomers, some of which was completed while visiting @CretonCost at ESPCI. It includes a simulation of @ShengqiangCai 's great LCE balloon experiment. https://t.co/N0k6Gpa9En

Returning home from the @Cal_Engineer @BerkeleyCee @NHE_SimCenter #NHERICompSym meeting at the @luskinhotella at @UCLA . I was great to see how much the SimCenter has grown in the past year under Matt DeJong's new leadership along with Greg Deierlein.

This morning it was bitterly cold in northern California. It was 41F out 🙂 and the steering wheel of my car was sticky (tacky). After 15 minutes, when the car warmed up, it was no longer sticky. What happened and why? @zhigangsuo @garethmckinley @EnduricaWill @ProfZhaoMIT

This weekend a legendary figure in the development of computational mechanics and the development of the public university, Karl S. Pister, passed away at 96. He was a great mechanician and a truly wonderful person. I will miss his guidance and good humor.
